Focus and filtering help you work with large outlines without changing their structure.
Text filtering
Use the filter/search field to find matching node text and notes. Matching nodes are highlighted, and their ancestors remain visible so you can still see where each match belongs.
Attribute filters
Traverse Pro adds richer filters for outline metadata, including task state, type, marks, custom checkbox fields, and lookup values.
Task filters
When a document uses the Task attribute, you can filter by task state: Any, No task, To do, or Done.
Type filters
When the Type attribute is present, filters can narrow the outline to headings, body text, blockquotes, code blocks, bullets, or numbered bullets.
Mark filters
Marks are coloured labels. Use them for urgency, review state, themes, or anything else you want to scan visually, then filter by one or more mark colours.
Lookup and checkbox filters
Custom lookup values become filter choices after values exist in the document. Custom checkbox attributes appear as Yes and No filter options.
Focus mode
Focus mode is a Pro feature that temporarily narrows the workspace to the selected branch. It is useful when you want to work inside one project, section, chapter, or research thread without moving or deleting anything.
- Select the branch you want to work inside.
- Use Focus from the toolbar or menu.
- Edit the branch as normal.
- Clear focus when you want to return to the full outline.
Clearing filters
Clear filters when you are finished to return to the full outline. Filtering and Focus do not remove or rewrite nodes; they only change what is shown in the workspace.
